Guide on Wearing Pre-Energized Rudraksha Do’s, Don’ts & Maintenance

rudraksha wearing

Receiving a pre-energized Rudraksha bead is a sacred moment. Unlike ordinary beads, a pre-energized Rudraksha has already been awakened through traditional rituals but before you wear it, there are important steps you must follow to ensure the bead bonds with your energy properly and works to its full potential. This guide walks you through the initiation process, ongoing maintenance, and essential precautions every Rudraksha wearer should know.

Choosing an Auspicious Time for Initiation

The first step before wearing your Rudraksha is selecting the right time and day. Timing is not merely a formality it is an integral part of the initiation that aligns cosmic energies in your favour.

Every Monday during Brahma Muhurtham (4:00 AM to 6:00 AM) is considered the most auspicious time for initiation. This pre-dawn window is naturally charged with divine energy and is ideal for beginning any spiritual practice or sacred ritual.

If you are unable to observe this time, do not worry. Different Rudraksha beads have specific auspicious days and times suited to their nature. Please consult us directly and we will guide you to the next best time based on your specific bead.

Preparing Your Space

Once your date and time are confirmed, prepare a clean, quiet, and peaceful environment for the initiation.

If you have a pooja room, that is the ideal space. Alternatively, your meditation room or any quiet, clean area in your home will work well. The key is that the space should be free from disturbance, noise, and negative influences. You are about to perform a sacred act your environment should reflect that reverence.

The Initiation Process – Step by Step

Step 1 — Apply Vibhuthi to the Bead

Hold the Rudraksha bead gently in your palm. Take a small pinch of vibhuthi (sacred ash), which we provide along with your bead, and sprinkle a very little amount over the bead. Be mindful only a small, light application is needed. This purifies the bead and prepares it to receive your energy.

Step 2 — Chant Your Beeja Mantra 108 Times

Every Rudraksha bead carries its own Beeja mantra a seed sound specific to the ruling deity of that bead. Please consult us to receive the exact Beeja mantra for your specific bead.

Once you have your mantra, chant it clearly and with full focus, 108 times minimum. Chanting more than 108 times is perfectly fine and in fact beneficial. However, chanting fewer than 108 times is not acceptable for the initiation to be complete.

If you lose count, get distracted, or need to take a break at any point start again from the beginning. This is not a punishment but a practice of discipline and mindfulness. The mantra must be chanted with full presence and continuity of intention.

Step 3 — Chant Your Siddhi Mantras 108 Times

After completing the Beeja mantra, you will chant your Siddhi mantras these are mantras aligned with your intention and purpose for wearing the Rudraksha. Ask yourself: why are you wearing this bead? What do you wish to cultivate in your life?

Whether your intention is wealth, attraction, leadership, protection, health, clarity, or spiritual growth there is a Siddhi mantra suited to your purpose. Please consult us to receive the correct Siddhi mantras for your goal.

Chant these also 108 times during the first-time initiation. As with the Beeja mantra, if you lose count or get distracted, begin again from the start.

Step 4 — Wear Your Rudraksha

Once both sets of mantras have been completed, your initiation is done. You may now wear your Rudraksha bead with full confidence, knowing it has been properly awakened and aligned with your energy and intention.

Maintenance Keeping Your Rudraksha Bead Healthy

A Rudraksha bead is a living, breathing sacred object. Like any living thing, it requires regular care to remain vibrant and effective.

Weekly Oil Application

Every week, apply a small amount of sandalwood oil or marikolunthu oil to your bead. Use a brand new, clean toothbrush or a similar soft-bristled brush to gently apply the oil and brush across the surface of the bead. This process removes accumulated dirt from the natural grooves and mukhis of the bead while keeping it nourished and energetically active.

This simple weekly routine will keep your Rudraksha looking beautiful, feeling clean, and working at its highest potential.

Annual Re-energization During Maha Shivaratri

A Rudraksha bead requires re-energization once a year, and the most powerful time to do this is during Maha Shivaratri — the great night of Shiva, which falls annually and is the most sacred occasion for all Rudraksha wearers.

Please contact us as Maha Shivaratri approaches. You have two options:

  • Send the bead to us and we will perform the full re-energization ritual on your behalf.
  • Do it yourself at home — we will share a detailed guide to walk you through the process.

Do not skip the annual re-energization. It is essential for maintaining the bead’s potency and keeping its connection to divine energy strong.

Important Don’ts When to Remove Your Rudraksha

While the Rudraksha is ideally worn continuously, there are certain environments and situations where it must be removed to protect both the bead and yourself.

Remove your Rudraksha when visiting:

  • Hospitals
  • Funerals or cremation grounds
  • Any place with heavy negative energy

These environments carry energies that can interfere with the purity of the bead. Removing it beforehand is an act of respect and protection.

For women: It is advised to remove the Rudraksha bead during your menstruation cycle. This is a traditional practice observed out of reverence for the bead’s sacred nature during a time of natural bodily transition.

Special Guidelines for Higher Mukhi Rudraksha Wearers (10 Mukhi and Above)

If you are wearing a Rudraksha of 10 Mukhi or higher, you are working with a bead of immense power and divine intensity. Higher mukhi beads demand a higher level of personal discipline and lifestyle awareness.

Please follow these additional guidelines:

Alcohol and smoking: Refrain from consuming alcohol and smoking cigarettes or any tobacco products. These substances lower your vibrational frequency and create a disconnect between you and the elevated energy of a higher mukhi bead.

Non-vegetarian diet: If you follow a non-vegetarian diet, gradually work toward reducing your meat intake. The higher mukhi Rudraksha functions at its best when the body is maintained in a clean and sattvic state.

If you do need to consume meat, remove the Rudraksha bead before eating. Do not wear it immediately after give your body some time to settle, and then you may wear the bead again. Over time, with sincerity and discipline, reducing your meat intake will significantly enhance the effects of your bead.

These are not rigid rules imposed upon you they are gentle guidelines to help you receive the maximum benefit from a bead of this magnitude.

Your Rudraksha bead is more than jewellery it is a sacred companion on your spiritual journey. Treat it with reverence, maintain it with care, and approach your practice with sincerity.
